Hygienic Services was a Design/Build project totaling approximately 40,000 square feet. This was a fast track project where the building construction started in the dead of winter and was completed by spring.
The main building was pre-engineered structural steel with a free span single slope metal roof system. The roof was designed to support a specific track system designed for the laundry industry. The overhead track system carries the laundry product from the loading docks throughout the building from station to station, never touching the floor, ending at the loading docks. All the mechanical and electric systems were Design/Build and included HVAC, plumbing, electrical and the sprinkling system (fire protection). The building’s interior was built to meet stringent hospital industry standards. State-of-the-art laundry equipment was installed by Red Wing Construction in special floor pits. Loading docks with dock levelers were constructed for product transfer.
The 2,000 square foot office area adjoins the main laundry building. This area includes offices, a reception area, conference room, lunch room and locker room for the employees. The outside of the facility was fenced, paved and landscaped.
